In Kingdom Kids, one of the Preschool Class' graduation requirement is to memorize Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." It's an easy verse to remember, but that's not why we chose it.
There's an importance in knowing who the Creator is. Right off the bat, we learn that God created everything, which shows just how powerful He is. We have a powerful God, who can create something from nothing.
If we read more of Genesis, we learn that God also created people. God created us! And the Bible says that everything God created, He proclaimed them to be very good (Genesis 1:31). We are very good creations of God. He must love us so much to say we are very good. It also means that not one of us is a mistake. We make mistakes, but we are not mistakes.
We should celebrate that the Creator is a very powerful God who loves us very much.
